Welcome

Composers' Orchestra exists to provide a forum for the rehearsal and presentation of new and original music works in the concert tradition by living composers, primarily - though not exclusively - composers who are also students at the University of Edinburgh.

Anyone with an interest in contemporary music may be involved - as a player, composer, observer, or friend. Rehearsals are held weekly on Thursdays at 6.30pm in The Reid Concert Hall, Bristo Square, conducted by our very own Michael Graham.

The orchestra aims to maintain a core of players forming a small chamber orchestra, but has a policy of inclusivity which means that its forces may grow or divide as required. Composers' Orchestra does not hold auditions, provided performers can demonstrate an adequate playing standard.

We recommend you keep up to date with what's going on at the Composers' Orchestra: join the CO Mailing List by clicking here.

Submitting works to the Orchestra

The orchestra's artistic policy is to rehearse all works presented to it by living composers, where practical, and to present as many of these works as possible at a concert each semester.
